Winter Cloak

I finally got around to photographing my winter cloak for you bloggers and for my etsy/madeit shop. i'm super excited about this one, i have been dyeing to include a cloak in one of my collections for about 4 years now. A friend wore one to uni, it was bright green with a go-fer leopard print trim all around the hem of the cloak, i know what your thinking yuuuk! that sounds disgusting, but actually it was quite adorable. i wish more people would embrace the cloak, you hardly ever see people wearing them, well this may be due to the face the perth winters aren't very cold at all, but still.

Here we have it, made from a 80%wool20% synthetic blend fibber, it will also be available in black, deep blue, white and of course the grey. it's lined in a high quality very soft synthetic satin, and available in a wide variety of colours.
Now what would a cloak be if it didn't have a hidden pocket in the lining? well let me tell you, it wouldn't be a cloak at all! i also included a big hood, because who doesn't like a big hood every now and then? i know i do. the cloak also has a cute little peplum sewn in at the neck, but i have decided to make this optional for buyers, as it may not be everyones cup of tea. Mr cloak has two ways of fastening 4 cute detailed metal buttons at the cf for extra coverage and warmth, or if one is in a hurry you can slip the cloak over and tie it up with the grey satin ribbon at the neck.
now for the creme della creme, i have added in a new feat, again it will be option. For those who want to show off a bit of figure and also to keep the warmth in you can thread a sash through some button holes at the waist and turn this cloak in to a JACKET! this extra feature may not be for everyone but personally i love it, gives you the options to turn it up a notch and keep people on there toes.

over and out! my tasty little lemon drops

I can hear the bells

my first wedding!
Very excited to be showing you this, i hope someone is seeing this, oh well i'm having to much darn fun to stop shearing this now.
im working my very first wedding! just the three bridesmaids not the bride, and they picked (lucky) one of my own designs, instead of getting me to design and draft up a new one. although they did request different fabric, the wedding is nautical themed with the reception on boat on the river, hence the royal blue. confess, after finishing the three bridesmaids dresses i will have made this same dress 7 times in 4 weeks and i'm getting quite sick of the pattern. Definitely looking forward to selling the last, i only have enough fabric for one more, FEEW! i know the picture quality is quite bad but you get the gist.

Corset sharing time! #1

over my 4 years of study I, like most students have developed a bad habit/obsession, however mine comes in quite a strange form. (clears throat) my name is Maevana and i have a corset obsession, sigh they are just so beautiful, sexy, sleek and you feel so sexy and empowered when you wear them! if you don't own a corset or have never tried one on you don't know what your missing out on, and i highly recommend you seek one out. i have 9 in total and were all hand made by me, it is my love and inspiration i look to corsetry and the integrity that it holds and try to pull those eliments through to my label peppermintMilk.

This is a pic of one of my 4th year BA projects, it is a period correct corset from the late 1800's and it took forever to make. nearly the entire corset has been corded, cording is a technique where you stitch through the corset creating channels for you to thread thin chord in, this can be used instead of boning or with and gives the wearer a vast amount more support (and pain).

Show a bit of leg at work

something i have been working on for the city working gal, made from a wool polly blend of suiting fabric i decided to make a fun skirt for the city goers. this skirt has two black chiffon inserts 3 quarters of the way down this waisted skirt, i thought it was going to be allot more see-through than it actually it and sadly it doesn't really give away much.

Some winter tartan fun!

My little project for sunday!
I think it turned out quite well don't you? this is a sneak peak at one of my winter garments that will be up very soon on my etsy shop. i have had this design sketched down for months now and yesterday i finally had some time, and the brain power to get around to it. the tartan fabric is a synthetic wool blend (i think more synthetic than wool) and the red half circle shaped peplums at the side are 100% wool, finished of with a matching tartan waistband, black and gold metal chunky zip, and a wooden button at the back. i had envisaged this skirt for the winter working city girl, looks very nice with opaque leggings for extra warmth and some nice thy high black boots, what do you think?

Its coming on summer in Perth, today is meant to hit above 30 but all i can think of right now is how much i wish it were snowing outside so i could go stomping round making snow angels and having snow ball fights. i think i will have to head to the beach instead.

my Etsy, here you will find some more of my designs for sale, enjoy!

Summer Fling

These two babies right her are my newest faves for summer, i have jsut recently uploaded them to my etsy and made it online shop so if you want to have more of a read and see more pics hit the link below.
www.etsy.com/shop/PeppermintMilk
The dresses are named summer Blush (left) and Summer Romance (right)

This dress pattern is back again for this summer, i sold out of the last dress due to the fabric being un available, so i have re made it with different sweeter fabric. this dress is perfect for warm summer days where you want to wear something just that little bit special maybe to impress a certain someone. this dress is very forgiving from the waist down and in my opinion is quite flattering.

the floral fabric detailing on the bust and pockets is 100%cotton, along with the mint and pastel coral fabric.
fully lined in white polly poplin
the dress is fully boned (boning at each seam) this makes it very satiable and gives you wonderful support for your bust and posture
zip at centre back
all seams are surged (over locked) for strength to help lengthen dress life
pockets at side seam of skirt

for other such goodies check back now and then, also i have a facebook fan page, for anyone who wants to sneak peeks of my new collections and projects, just type in Peppermintmilk in to the search on your facebook page :)

Over and out!
